As a Therapist

I am trained in a variety of evidence based treatment approaches including CBT-type treatments and trauma-focused therapy, motivational interviewing and psychodynamic psychotherapies. I use an integrated collaborative approach to therapy in a warm, non-judgmental, direct and supportive manner to treat adults and adolescent with a wide-rage range of mental health problems including severe and persistent mental illnesses, trauma, eating disorders, chronic pain, substance abuse and addictions, depression and anxiety, gender identity issues,  life transition adjustment and interpersonal difficulties.

My experiences have given me a deeper understanding of the connection between physical and emotional pain, and a larger perspective about the importance of the body-mind relationship and the “science of care.” My therapeutic techniques are grounded in both science and research, and I aim to individualize each treatment to determine the best approach for client’s personal goals, individual needs and situation.  I offer services in both English and Romanian.

I am a Licensed Psychologist in Florida (PY10457). I received both my Masters degree and Doctorate degree in clinical psychology at Georgia School of Professional Psychology. I completed an year of internship training at the Manhattan Psychiatric Center, in NYC. Subsequent to that training, I attended  an year of postdoctoral residency in Health Psychology at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center, Cleveland, OH and a second postdoctoral fellowship year in Clinical Psychology – with treatment specializing in Eating Disorders, at the Albany School of Medicine /Albany Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry, in NY.  In addition, prior to my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, I earned a Ph.D. in Physical Education at National Academy of Physical Education and Sport and a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree at the University of Medicine “Carol Davila” in Bucharest, Romania, where I worked as a sports medicine physician.
